Dog Behavior Rules PDF Print E-mail

In order to live a tail wagging, happy dogmestic life with your dog, you must first teach your dog a few dog behavior rules.

On Table Manners - It's important to teach your dog which dish belongs to him. Show your dog his dish is the one brightly decorated with paw prints, and is conveniently located on the floor with “special” food just for him to avoid confusion over the food on the table.

Also, your dog should know that placing his paws in your dish of food and decorating it with paw prints does not make now make this his dish of food.

The Topic of Bedside Manners - Your dog must learn how to share, and there is no place better to start then your bedroom. Your dog must understand that you own a king size bed, and this is as large as its going to get. And, you are not willing to sleep on the sofa so he can have a comfortable nights sleep.

Your dog must learn you don't sleep curled up in a ball like he does. You sleep stretched out, fully extended lengthwise on the bed. And let your dog know your on to him if he tries to get away with sticking his tail out pin straight as far as it will reach, while doing the same with his tongue on the other end to take up the most space possible.

Proper Social Manners - when it comes to your dog showing his affection by kissing, it is strongly suggested you teach him the proper “pecking order,” your dog is to kiss you first, and then go off to socialize, and sniff and smell the butt's of any other dogs or animals.

The stairway is not a NASCAR racetrack, and your dog's goal is not to beat you to the finish landing. And cutting you off at the turn by tripping you won't you're him win because you'll fall faster than he can run.

Patience is a Virtue - And finally, should you happen by some amazing feat to shut the bathroom door with your dog left on the outside, I highly recommend showing your dog that your bathroom does not have a second exit secretly hidden and it is not necessary for to whine, howl or whimper because you will in fact exit through the very door from which you entered.

Once these rules of etiquette behavior are mastered, you and your dog will begin to enjoy dogmesticated living together.
