Proper Training Solves Dog Behavior Problems and Saves Puppies

The idea of owning a dog is every child’s dream.  And many loving parents rush out and purchase adorable little puppies to bring home to surprise there little ones only to find themselves the ones surprised at how much work a dog can actually be.

Unfortunately, the novelty of a vast majority of these puppies wears off within a few months because their families just doesn’t have the adequate amount of time to dedicate to proper daily training, and as a result behavioral problems begin such as barking, biting, destructive chewing, digging, jumping, marking, chasing cars, and getting into the garbage.

Even more unfortunate, these young puppy dogs usually are surrendered to animal shelters becoming homeless as the result of dog behavior problems that could have been prevented.

For example, chewing, barking and general destructive behavior may all be a result of boredom, and if these problems are addressed early on, the will not develop into behavioral problems.

Once dogs develop bad habits, they'll continue the unwanted behavior until they are introduced to a reason to stop. The first step to undoing unwanted behaviors in dogs is to understand the reason the reason for the behavior in the first place.

The next step after identifying a dog’s reason for acting out is to take measures to replace the unwanted behavior with one that is acceptable.  Teach a dog how to appropriately conduct himself, and then reinforce the new substitute behavior with loving praise.  In just a few weeks, a dog will respond appropriately, adopting a more calm and well-behaved disposition.
