Cow Bow Wow Island Retreat - Coastal Maine Dog Calming Escape

Perhaps you’ve seen a retreat for dogs and their people on cable television, where pets get to go off-leash and socialize in packs while their owners learn the finer points of preparing organic and raw food meals for their charges, amongst other dog-loving skills.  The owners get to relax and socialize and the calm dogs seem to be having the tail-wagging time of their   lives. You may ask yourself where you could ever find such an event, or see it as an unaffordable luxury. Think again, because a dog-tastic event is coming to the beautiful coast of Maine this fall.

Cow Bow Wow will take place October 3-5, 2008 on Cow Island off the coast of Portland Maine. The escape package will include boat transportation from Portland to the island, meals, and basic lodging.  Aside from lots of walking, swimming, socializing and fetch, numerous workshops are planned.  These include clicker training, acupuncture and massage for dogs and discussions of homeopathy and the Bach flower essences. These are all awesome dog calming resources and it’s a real treat to have it all conveniently wrapped up in one high-quality package. There’s even a talent show, but if you think that will upset your newly calm dog or give you performance anxiety, you’re probably free to remain in the audience.

The event is limited to 35 humans, and one dog per participant.
